There is a great lack of information about the architectural and urban growth that most Mesoamerican urban centers suffered from their origins to their abandonment, an example of this, is evident in most of the projects carried out in the Mayan area, which have been focused on the monumentality, the reconstruction and consolidation of their buildings, the systematic discovery and recovery of their sculpted monuments, the excavation of elite funerary contexts and the deciphering of their hieroglyphic texts, leaving aside many other lines of research important for the analysis of ancient Prehispanic civilizations, as it is the case of the emergence of urban centers during the Preclassic period.
